Just as I am working on my first WordPress blog, Yaro at Entrepreneurs Journey has posted a short video on the importance of blog design.

His advice: Blog design is important but good content still prevails. Start off with a free theme or the default theme and work on writing good content. Once your readership and revenues increase enough you can then think about purchasing a custom theme.

This does make sense to me. But in reality it is hard to not want a custom blog. However, I have found that playing with a blog’s design is a black hole in terms of time. And since I don’t have a background in web design, my efforts are often fruitless.

Moving past the psychological block of a humdrum looking blog and focusing on writing is difficult. Forging ahead one step at a time is the best way to go.
